Joel Gaalswyk (student intern)
“We don’t get wounded alone and we don’t heal alone.”
-Carl Jung
Joel believes that the power of a story is written in our DNA. He sees that meaning making is found through the bonds of relationships. There is both pain and hope in the stories of our lives and exploring how we engage our relationships has the power to flip the script.
He is enthusiastic about collaborating with couples and individuals to pursue their own story with curiosity through the lens of hope so that they can experience connection, meaning and wholeness within themselves and their relationships.
Joel is currently enrolled in the master’s program of Marriage and Family Therapy at Saint Mary’s University. He has training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), which is an attachment-based therapeutic approach, proven to reduce distress in couples.
He and his wife have been married for 12 years, have three young children, and have learned that the hard and rarely linear work of relationships paves the way for meaning and connection. Joel loves the outdoor life, including fishing, archery, and being in the mountains. He has a Red Labrador Retriever and enjoys woodworking.
